Every year the Japanese Meteorological Agency and the public track the sakura zensen ("cherry blossom front") as it moves northward up the archipelago with the approach of warmer weather via nightly forecasts following the weather segment of news programs. The blossoming begins in Okinawa in January, and typically reaches Kyoto and Tokyo at the end of March or the beginning of April. It proceeds into areas at the higher altitudes and northward, arriving in Hokkaido a few weeks later.

每年,随着天气变暖,日本气象厅和公众都会在新闻节目和天气预报之后的夜间天气预报中,追踪樱花锋的去向,因为樱花锋会沿着群岛向北移动。樱花盛开始于1月的冲绳,通常在3月底或4月初到达京都和东京。它进入高海拔地区并向北移动,几周后到达北海道。

There are over one hundred cherry tree varieties in Japan. They can differ by the number of petals, color of the blossoms, form of the tree, and time of blooming.

日本有一百多种樱花树。它们因花瓣的数量、花朵的颜色、树的形状和盛开的时间而有所不同。

Cherry trees with more petals than ordinary cherry trees with five petals are classified as yae-zakura (double-flowered sakura),  and some species have blossoms which consist of ten, twenty or more petals.

拥有更多花瓣的樱花树被归类为多重樱花(double- blossom sakura),有些种类的樱花由10个、20个甚至更多花瓣组成。

 

Cherry trees display various growing habits and come in different shapes and forms: triangular, columnar, V-shape,  flat-topped, etc. Those with drooping branches are classified as shidare-zakura, or weeping cherry.

樱花树着不同的生长习性,有着不同的形状和样式,如三角形、柱状、v形、平顶等。那些枝条下垂的被归类为“垂樱”。

The color of cherry blossoms in general has a gradation between white and light pink, but there are also cherry trees with dark pink, yellow or green blossoms.

樱花的颜色一般介于白色和浅粉色之间,但也深粉色、黄色或绿色花的樱花。

Kizakura Tokusen Hana Kizakura is brewed by Kizakura Company located in Fushimi district of Kyoto. The company name actually comes from the president's fondness for yellow cherry blossoms (a type of cherry tree with pale greenish white flowers). The yellow cherry blossom is officially called Gyoikou, a lovely yellow cherry tree that blooms a little later than the popular Yoshino cherry trees. The product (sake) labels are also decorated with yellow cherry blossoms.

Kizakura Tokusen Hana Kizakura是由位于京都富士见区的黄樱公司酿造的。该公司的名字实际上来源于公司老板对黄色樱花(一种开着淡绿色白色花的樱桃树)的喜爱。黄色樱花的正式名称是Gyoikou,是一种可爱的黄色樱花树,比流行的吉野樱花开花的时间晚一些。本产品(清酒)的标签上也装饰着黄色的樱花。
