July 6th Is Fried Chicken Day! Celebrate with Hitachino White Ale

What Is Fried Chicken Day?

Fried chicken is one of the tastiest and most popular types of comfort food enjoyed all around the world. Juicy, tender, and crispy fried chicken is celebrated on National Fried Chicken Day on July 6. Fried chicken used to be an expensive delicacy up until World War II, but thanks to mass production techniques, we’re now able to enjoy this dish for a very cheap price almost anywhere around the world.

Although it is unclear how the day originated, Fried Chicken Day has been observed yearly for quite some time now. On this day, fried chicken is prepared and cooked in a number of different ways. Many fried chicken restaurants will have promotions running on this date. This includes the likes of KFC and Church’s Chicken. We have also seen that this date is celebrated across the world now as well.

For example, in 2018 KFC's Australian operations offered the chance to win free fried chicken for a year. The contest was entered by making social-media posts stating reasons why the entrant deserved the prize. The winning entry was by a 19-year-old who, together with her friend, got the KFC corporate logotype tattooed on her foot.

Best Drink to Go With Fried Chicken Is Beer!

There is no denying that the best drink when eating fried chicken is beer! Fried chicken is a little bit greasy and salty, and a refreshing taste and carbonation of beer works as a palate cleanser. This type of beer pairing works especially well for spicy fried chicken. You can use the cool and refreshing flavor of light beer to wash down the heat of Korean fried chicken.

For that, we especially recommend the award-winning Hitachino Nest Beer. One of their top-selling beers is Hitachino While Ale, a refreshing mildly hopped Belgian styled beer with a complex flavor of coriander, orange peel, nutmeg. White Ale has won gold medals at several beer competition in UK and US.
